How did you start your career as an architect?
I was fortunate to always love to build things and get in trouble as a child for taking apart things that didn’t belong to me just so I could see how they worked. My grandfather would come by my house sometimes when he was working on houses and fix little things, like leaky faucets or my bedroom door that wouldn’t close all of a sudden.
What is your best business advice?
Get out of your own way and let go of limiting beliefs. The best time to be an entrepreneur is right now. You are not too old, have little education or no contacts. Now is the time for you to invest in yourself and execute on your ideas. Your business dream doesn’t have to be a huge risk. Many entrepreneurs who are just starting out start small but with big dreams! Just think outside of that box that society puts us in and get started!
What inspired you to become a real estate investor?
It all started with a book on real estate investing I read during my teenage years. The whole idea of being able to flip houses and make a lot of money really intrigued me. As I got older, however, I realized that real estate could be more than just a way to make extra cash—it could also be used as an investment tool to build wealth and passive income.
Where do you see the real estate market in next 10 years?
The real estate market is very much in a state of flux. Depending on who you talk to, there are various opinions about what’s happening next. I believe that it’s going to become increasingly difficult for people to obtain mortgages and many will be forced out of their homes as rents continue to rise. Foreclosures will hit an all-time high and widespread homelessness may actually become a reality for more Americans than it already is.
Tell us something we don’t know about you…
When I was a child, I would do an average of one thousand pushups every day. These days, I only get to about twenty a day. As you grow older, your body doesn’t have it as easy as it did when you were young, and being fit becomes more of a challenge. That’s why my advice is always: start early! Don’t wait until you are in your fifties to start thinking about weight loss. Start today!
